Fifth annual folk festival "Svidnia"

On June 17th, in the region of "Popov bridge" located between the villages of Kopilovtsi and Govezda , Montana Province , the fifth annual folk festival "Svidnia" took place.

At the scene of "Svidnia" were singing, dancing and playing over 600 amateurs from 70 groups for authentic folklore, mainly from the northwest part of Bulgaria.

The local crafts and arts were represented by Hristo Tashev woodcarver from Berkovitsa, Biljana Poryazova from Vulchedrum with objects from corn foliage, Reni Hristova from Montana with pieces of wire and clay, Emmy Elenkova of Gorni Lom with souvenirs from natural materials, makers of jelly from Chiprovtsi , the potter from Berkovitsa -Ilia Ivanov. Participants also included the children from the school in the village of Tarnava with pictures made of paper, Chavdar Antov who works with wood, and Valio Peshov with souvenirs prepared from natural stones. The presentation of the contestants was evaluated by a professional jury, which was headed by Dr. Svetla Stanilova from the Faculty of "Folk music and choreography" of the Academy of Music and Dance Art” in Plovdiv.

Next year the festival will be held here again as forum and way to preserve the tradition and to keep the ethnicity
